Want: Sexual Fantasies by Anonymous

ISBN ‎978-1526657909

I managed to read Want in a single day – and I’m still not quite sure what that says about me. Compiled by Gillian Anderson, this book brings together women’s sexual fantasies in a way that feels honest, curious, and deeply human.

What I loved most about Want was its inclusivity. The voices in this book come from women of different sexualities, backgrounds, and cultures, gay, bi, straight women, women from China, from England, and beyond. That breadth of experience makes the book feel rich and expansive, reminding us that desire is not one-size-fits-all.

There was something genuinely powerful about reading women openly talking about sex and their fantasies. The care, imagination, and thought that went into many of the pieces really amazed me. Each contribution was articulated with such clarity and intention that the book became a pleasure to read rather than something sensational.

Importantly, Want never felt seedy or dirty. It felt respectful, thoughtful, and affirming,  simply women owning and expressing their own sexual desires in their own words. By the end, I was left reflecting on how rarely we create space for these conversations, and how freeing it can be when we do.
