A Secret Garden Affair

This was a perfect summer read and that was exactly when I read it, on the beaches in Somerset. I read most of the book within two days.

Such a great book, with three main characters in , all of whom I grew to be fond of straight away.  The book was focussed on three female characters, who from the first chapter I felt had resilience, strength and had all experienced extreme sadness. As I read, all unfolded.

The way that Erica explains the surroundings in the book was spectacular. I had a clear picture in my mind about what the kitchen looked like, the house, the gardens.

The lovely front cover helped feed my imagination. The books focus on relationships on all levels, friendships, partners, families, and the complexities that these have, and certainly got me thinking about how difficult these can be to manage at times.

What I loved was the friendship of Bess and Elfrida, such a special and heartwarming friendship that showed the strength of them both. For me it was this strength that made me want to keep turning the pages.

The book had me routing for every character and the way the book went from past and present throughout made it such an enjoyable read for me, I love understanding everyone’s story and the way that the book was written certainly helped with that!

This book certainly took me away from my world and I entered the fascinating world of Libby, Bess and Elfrida and I certainly recommend that you do too. 😘
