Girl, Women, Other

As soon as I heard Bernardine had won the Booker Price 2019 for this book I had to read it, but for one reason or another I had it sitting on my shelf for a good while. I found this book difficult to get into at the start, but as I have mentioned previously, this was more about where my head was at rather than the book. So I decided to start it again and fell in love with each woman straight away.

The book was brilliant at bringing the characters to life and really did showcase life for modern women in Britain. Addressing race, culture, relationship sexual and relationship with families. A subject we still need to understand far more especially from a woman’s perspective.

I particularly liked how the book addressed issues that women have to consider virtually everyday. As well as the family and friend dynamics that plays out for many women. Making life over complicated for many.

It was funny, emotional, witty and honest. Each character becoming my friend 😀

At the end the twist really made me smile  – I won’t say anymore but it was a fab ending to a fab book.
