How to Age Disgracefully is a wonderfully humorous and uplifting read, with characters whose personalities leap straight off the page. Claire Pooley has a real gift for creating people you instantly care about, and this book is no exception. It’s an easy, enjoyable read, full of warmth, wit, and heart.
Daphne, the main character, quickly became a favourite of mine. She’s edgy, quick-witted, and wrapped in an air of mystery, making her utterly compelling. Watching her character unfold, and gradually find her voice, was one of the highlights of the book for me.
What I loved most was the way relationships are formed between the most unlikely group of people. There’s something deeply comforting about seeing strangers come together, each bringing their own strengths, and creating real change as a collective. It’s a reminder that connection can come from the most unexpected places.
This book made me laugh, reflect, and feel quietly inspired. It’s a joyful celebration of friendship, finding your voice, and proving that it’s never too late to shake things up and age disgracefully.
