Thrown is an easy, feel-good summer read and very much my kind of book. It’s one of those stories that reminds you of the power of community and what can happen when people come together — something this book captures beautifully. It was the perfect holiday read, comforting, uplifting, and full of heart.
The characters are vividly and thoughtfully described, each one different, bringing their own stories, strengths, and vulnerabilities to the page. Sara Cox explores how communities can become fractured, often quietly and gradually, and how something as simple as a shared activity can begin to repair those breaks. In this case, it’s a pottery class that becomes the catalyst for connection.
Through this shared space, friendships begin to flourish and the women involved slowly find their inner confidence. Watching these relationships grow felt both authentic and inspiring. It struck a chord with me, as it mirrors what I see every day through our charity — how safe spaces and shared experiences can help women reconnect with themselves and each other.
Reading Thrown while on holiday felt like a gentle reminder of why community matters so much. It’s a warm, hopeful story that leaves you feeling uplifted and quietly reassured about the power of human connection.
