The Healing Season of Pottery – finding your tribe and learning to slow down 🏺📚

I’m beginning to think I should just ask the assistant at Waterstones to choose all my books! The Healing Season of Pottery was another recommendation from them, and I’m so glad they pointed me towards it.

Written by Korean author Yeon Somin, this was such a lovely and thought-provoking read. The story follows a woman who has given up her job after experiencing burnout and is struggling to even leave the house. Eventually, she does venture out and walks into what she thinks is a café, and from there, she discovers something she didn’t realise she needed: her tribe.

I really loved the themes of friendship, community and escapism. I read this book while I was on holiday, so the idea of having somewhere you can go to simply escape from it all really resonated with me. Sometimes we all need a place where we can switch off, breathe and just be ourselves.

What I particularly loved was the focus on community and the importance of finding people who make you feel that you belong. There was something really comforting about watching the characters come together and create their own little world.

The book also explores what can happen when we slow down in a world that constantly tells us to speed up. And, if I’m being completely honest, that is probably something I should take notice of myself!

It was a gentle reminder that slowing down isn’t necessarily about doing less, sometimes it’s about making space for the things that really matter: friendship, connection, creativity and simply having time to breathe.

Another brilliant recommendation from Waterstones, and another book I would happily recommend to others. A warm, comforting read with a really important message about community, friendship and finding your own place to escape. 💕

A beautiful reminder to slow down, find your tribe and make space for what really matters.
